Striking distance
Striking distance describes keywords where a page already ranks roughly between positions four and twenty, close enough that a modest improvement produces a visible traffic change.
It is the highest-return segment of a keyword set because the hard part, being considered relevant at all, is already done. A page ranking fortieth needs a different kind of work; a page ranking second has little headroom left.
